IFC Organizes Credit Bureau Roundtable in Lebanon

An IFC roundtable, Creating the Infrastructure for Improved Retail and Small Business Credit in Lebanon, was held in Beirut on September 27, 2007. The goal was to share best practices in developing and running private credit bureaus efficiently. Topics included:

• The role of credit reporting in modern risk management and in increasing access to finance
• What constitutes an enabling regulatory environment for an efficient credit reporting industry
• The challenges of establishing credit bureaus

The event was organized by IFC, in cooperation with Visa International and the Association of Banks in Lebanon.
